Travelling from Gold Coast Airport
to Sea World Resort

PUBLIC TRANSPORT

You will need to purchase a Go Card to use public transport in South East Queensland. Go Cards are available at the WHSmith Convenience Store in the Gold Coast Airport, near the Domestic Baggage Collection area.

Catch the 777 bus from Gold Coast Airport to Broadbeach South tram station. Then transfer onto the 705 bus to Sea World (the end of the line). From the bus stop, it’s a short 10 minute walk down Seaworld Drive to the Resort and Conference Centre Entrance.

Both routes run every 15 minutes from 7:00am to 7:00pm, seven days a week.

For guests visiting the Gold Coast, the ‘Gold Coast go explore‘ pass is available from the Airport and is easy to use. The pass is only $10 a day for unlimited bus and tram travel. Click here for further information.

TAXIS

A taxi rank is conveniently located at the southern end of the terminal, outside the domestic arrivals area.

RIDE SHARING

For pre booked customers, the ride share pick up point is located at the northern end of the terminal, outside the departures area.

CAR HIRE

You’ll find all of Australia’s best known car rental companies located opposite the arrivals area at Gold Coast Airport. Book before you arrive or shop around at the terminal for the best deal.

Passengers can pre book shared door to door or private transfers at the Con-X-Ion Airport Desk inside the terminal. Open daily from 10.00am – 5.00pm. An E-kiosk is also available to take bookings outside these hours.

CARPARKING AT SEA WORLD RESORT

Complimentary car parking is available onsite at Sea World Resort. Spaces are limited, so if you have trouble finding a car park, try next door at Sea World Marine Park. The Marine Park has a large number of parking spaces in front of the main gates.

to Sea World Resort

PUBLIC TRANSPORT

The Airtrain is a quick and easy option for getting to and from Brisbane Airport. Airtrain travels express to the Gold Coast, linking to the G:link tram for travel to Surfers Paradise and the Gold Coast beaches. 

Train services run every 15 minutes during peak times and every 30 minutes off-peak periods.

To use this service, book your ticket on the Airtrain website and get your return journey FREE*, plus access exclusive specials for duo travellers, group travellers, and families with kids travelling FREE*. If you want to purchase tickets on arrival at the Airtrain Station you can buy a paper ticket, travel using go card (link) or travel using contactless payment. To use contactless payment, you must touch on with a Visa, Mastercard, or American Express on the train station gates and card readers. You can use a physical contactless debit or credit card, smartphone, smart watch, or smart device.

TAXIS

Taxis are available 24/7 from sheltered ranks right outside the Domestic and International Terminals. During peak times, Kerbside Officers are on hand to assist.  

  • At the Domestic Terminal, the taxi rank is located centrally in the front of the Terminal building.
  • At the International Terminal, you will find the cab rank in front of the Terminal on the Level 2 Arrivals Road, through the doors and out to the left.

Fare estimate
Passengers can expect to pay $200 – $260.00 (one way for a trip from the airport to Sea World Resort Gold Coast). Outside of peak periods, it is approximately a 1 hour and 15-minute drive from the airport to the city. Use the 13cabs advanced fare estimator to calculate a fare.

Fees and tolls
Please note there is a fee of $4.24 added to any fares collected from the airport. Remember that toll road fees are in addition to any cab fare and are the responsibility of the passenger.

RIDE SHARING

Booking a rideshare service? Easy! Brisbane Airport was one of the first airports in Australia to enable rideshare pick up services, including Uber, Didi, Ola and Sheba. 

Simply order your rideshare using your preferred app and follow the signs to the designated Rideshare Booking areas to meet with your driver.

Domestic Terminal
Uber & Rideshare pick up is on the central road between taxi pick up and passenger pick up and drop off, either side of the Skywalk. Upon exiting the Terminal, cross two crossings to find it. View the location on a map

International Terminal
From Level 2, take the lift or escalator down to Level 1, follow the Rideshare Booking signs towards the open-air car park on the left as you exit the Terminal building (towards the city). You can also follow the map in your rideshare app to the pick up location.

You will find all the major car hire companies at Brisbane Airport offering cheap rates including Avis, Budget, Enterprise, Hertz, and SIXT. Both the Domestic and International Terminals have convenient locations to pick up your keys and your hire car.

International Visitor Information

CLIMATE

December is summer in Australia, where the Gold Coast’s the average temperature is a pleasant 21 – 28.4°C (69.8 – 83.1°F). The humidity is high, roughly 69 – 75 per cent, but this is offset by cool sea breezes.

TAXES

All prices quoted for this conference are inclusive of 10% GST (Goods and Services Tax), unless otherwise specified. GST applies to most goods and services in Australia.

The Tourist Refund Scheme (TRS) is administered by the Australian Customs Department and enables travellers departing from Australia to claim a refund of the GST and Wine Equalisation Tax (WET) paid on goods bought in Australia.  For detailed information on the TRS, visit the website of the Australian Customs and Border Protection Services of the Australian Government.

VACCINATION

There is no vaccination required for entering Australia. However, if you enter Australia from a yellow fever declared country but do not hold a vaccination certificate you will receive a Yellow Fever Action Card for further information. More information can be found on the Department of Health of the Australian Government website.

VISA REQUIREMENTS

It is important to apply for your visa in advance to allow for variances in processing times.

Participants required to lodge paper-based visa applications should do so at the Australian visa office nearest to their current country of residence.

Include your name as it appears on your passport, your personal (not professional) address, and date of birth. Please note that we do not seek or assist with visas on your behalf. 

TIME ZONE

Queensland operates on Australian Eastern Standard Time (AEST) which is equal to Coordinated Universal Time plus 10 hours (UTC +10). Day light saving time is not observed in Queensland. 

BANKING & CURRENCY
Decimal currency is used in Australia with the dollar as the basic unit (100 cents = A$1). Notes come in A$100, A$50, A$20, A$10 and A$5 denominations. Coins come in 5c, 10c, 20c, 50c, A$1 and A$2 denominations. Currency exchange facilities are available in most banks, hotels and airports and operate normal business hours. Credit cards are accepted at most restaurants and shops, the most widely used being MasterCard, Visa and American Express.
ELECTRICITY
Electrical current is 240/250V, AC 50Hz. The Australian three-pin power outlet is different from that in many countries, so you will need an adaptor. If your appliances are 110V, check if there is a 110/240V switch. If not, you will need a voltage converter. Universal outlets for 240V or 110V shavers are usually found in leading hotels.
LANGUAGE
English is Australia’s main language, with more than 300 other languages spoken within its diverse local communities. Multilingual interpreters are available at international entry points, major hotels and department stores.
